I heart The Great Gatsby. There I said it. Feel free to judge the horrible cliche AP English student answer to the question “what is your favorite book?”. I make no apologies for my infatuation with the jazz age and the tragic romanticism that my heart yearns for during my annual re-read of this American classic (pick Gatsby Daisy…this time pick him). Los Angeles has some absolutely shining examples of the glamour and opulence that was the Art Deco architecture period, my personal favorite being the Eastern Columbia building downtown. Every time I walk past the turquoise terra cotta I can’t help but think to myself, “if those walls could talk I bet they would have some simply scandalous stories to tell.”
